Richard J. Flanigan
As senior vice president at Cerner Corporation, Dick leads the international health care IT company’s initiatives in the areas of research and life sciences. A member of Cerner’s Academic Advisory Board (AAB) and Pediatric Leadership Council (PLC), Dick leverages research insights from both councils throughout the wider base of Cerner clients.
Prior to joining Cerner, he spent more than 13 years in sales and management positions at IBM Corp., earning numerous management and leadership awards, and through IBM’s Client Executive Program, completing post-graduate course work at the Harvard Business School. He earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics from Mount Saint Mary’s College and a master’s degree in administrative science from Johns Hopkins University.
Matthew D. Putnam MD
Matt is a professor of orthopaedics at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and an orthopaedic surgeon at University of Minnesota Physicians. His areas of specialization include hand, wrist and arm surgery involving complex fractures, ligament injuries, tumors and children’s sports injuries and microsurgical reconstruction.
In addition to serving on the DCS board, Matt is a consultant to Wright Medical Technology, an international orthopaedic medical device company specializing in the design, manufacture, and marketing of reconstructive joint devices and biologics.
Matt earned BA degrees in biology, psychology and computer science from Dartmouth College and his MD from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed residencies in surgery at the Roosevelt Hospital and orthopaedic surgery the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Michael D. Ward
Michael joined Bain Capital in January 2003 and has been a managing director since 2004. He has worked closely with several portfolio companies including Houghton Mifflin, Burger King, Warner Music Group, and Toys R Us.
Previously, Michael was the president and COO of Digitas, responsible for the day-to-day management of the business and was involved with various client relationships. Prior to that he was COO of Digitas’ predecessor company, Bronner Slosberg Humphrey.
Michael earned his BAS in chemical engineering and BA in accounting and finance from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his MBA from the Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College. He is on the board of directors of Sensata Technologies, Inc., Toys R Us, Inc., The Weather Channel, and the Boston Public Library Foundation.

Robert H. Annis, II
Bob has nearly 30 years of experience in health care and information technology. As one of the original founders and President of CATCH Data Systems and VOBA Solutions, Bob is responsible for managing both firms’ operational performance and guiding their strategy, direction and growth initiatives.
Having started his early career as a corpsman in the US Navy and Marine Corp, Bob has a wide range of practical hands-on management and technical experience. Prior to the founding of CATCH Data Systems and VOBA Solutions, Bob spent seven years at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in a variety of information technology positions. Bob is a graduate of Plymouth State University with a degree in Applied Computer Science.
Gregg E. Fairbrothers
A professor of business administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, Gregg is one of the nation’s leading experts on entrepreneurship education and commercial implementation. Gregg is the founding director of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network and founding chair of the Dartmouth Regional Technology Center incubator.
Prior to joining Dartmouth’s faculty in 1999, Gregg was president and founder of a mid-sized international oil and gas producer, Samson International, Ltd, president of Samson Resources, Inc., and a director of the companies’ parent holding company, Samson Investment Company. He has more than 23 years experience in almost all operational and investment-related aspects of the upstream oil and gas industry, including exploration, exploitation, production, marketing, acquisitions and divestment, joint ventures, and corporate finance through banks, multi-lateral institutions, limited partnerships and public markets including IPOs and unsolicited purchases.
Gregg graduated Dartmouth College magna cum laude in 1975 with a BA in earth sciences. He also earned an MS degree in geology from Rutgers University in 1977, and an MBA from the University of Tulsa in 1983.
Gary R. Schall, Corporate Counsel
Gary is of counsel in the Waltham office of Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP. Gary specializes in the representation of emerging growth companies throughout their lifecycles. His practice encompasses all areas of general corporate and securities law, with extensive experience with corporate formation and governance matters, private placements of debt and equity securities, joint ventures, restructurings and a variety of M&A transaction structures.
Gary represents a wide variety of technology companies from medical device, consumer internet, software, telecommunications, and entertainment technology industries, as well as a number of leading venture capital firms.
Gary received his JD, order of the coif, from Vanderbilt University Law School. He earned his MBA from St. John’s University and BS in business and economics from Lehigh University.
